I am told that it is absolutely essential to address cover letters to a specific person. but what if you're applying to large global companies? it's not possible to get the names of people there, is it? please reply!

GradJobHunter

It is best to address them to the person recruiting otherwise just do

Dear Sir/Madam,

geekydiva

phew that's a relief... thanks

For open graduate positions i think it is fair enough to just use sir/madam,

if you were applying for a senior role or speculative applications, then getting a contact name would be much more necessary.

If a recruitment consultant approaches you that " he has seen your CV and please send me your recent CV". The cover letter should be addressed to the recruitment consultant or the company?
Thanks
