Hey guys,

has someone got news about the OW online test? is it numeracy test or verbal or both?

Cheers

beyewtiful

Is it online? I thought they make you take it in person. Apparently it has a 20 minute critical reasoning and a 20 min numeracy test. That's all I know..

stranger

it is in person. 20 min for numeracy and 20 for critical reasoning with 30 questions each. I have been invited for the tests but i really do not have any further ideas about this. If anyone could share their experience please.

xo

I was invited too. However I really think 20 mins for 30 questions is impossible to finish....
I am scheduled on this Friday. how about you guys?

avonrosen

test

Long79

I haven't heard from them yet, so I guess that it isn't really a good news.

Nellz

I've been invited for an online test too. I think it depends on where you live as to whether you get invited to do them in person, or online.

In my opinion the online tests are harder than the standard SHL, PSL ones, so I would assume the same thing for the paper ones.

Did you apply for GMC or FSC?

Long79

i applied for GMC but I have just received an email saying that I have been rejected!

kokinwor

Hi XO, I have been invited for the test this Friday too. I don't have any ideas. What is your time? Mine 15:00.
I will share my experience later.

pennypeng70

Is there any sample test when you're taking the online test one? 20 minute critical reasoning and a 20 min numeracy test, each for 30 questions? is critical reasoning like verbal test?

xo

mine is on 10 in the morning

mark1010

Does anyone which system they are using for their online test. i.e. SHL. You can go to their website and take one test for free.

Long79

I did the SHL test earlier and I found it pretty difficult. the numerical test had tricky questions!!!!

davy yeung

Hmm... I can't understand how they can do a num test online... where I have a calculator in front of me...anyway any feedback from the online test?

Anyone?? Please share

mark1010

go to http://www.shldirect.com/numerical.html and take the test.

davy yeung

Thank you very much mark... Sorry for being a dummy... good luck with the interview.

mark1010

no worries fingers crossed for you as well!

baldipsinghkohli

I have given a lot of online tests for various Consultancies and IBanks, most of them provided by SHL. Till now I have found most of them relatively easy. But the OW test is totally different, not much emphasis on numerical data interpretation but more on probability or geometry. I didt even remembered the formulas at that time.

The critical reasoning is probably the toughest I have faced.

xo

u've already taken the test?
how many questions did you manage to finish?

peggy1004

..My tests slot is 14:00 in London... Anyone else got the same time?

davy yeung

how strange... I live in london and i get the online test...

rm

Is the test provided by GMAT?

xo

i just had mine.
verbal part is just like GMAT critical reasoning.
numerical part is easy, but time is limited, didn't manage to finish all of them.

davy yeung

you are a star xo I wish you luck... I been wraping my head over simple questions like this one... is it similar?

Two cyclists start biking from a trail's start 3 hours apart. The second cyclist travels at 10 miles per hour and starts 3 hours after the first cyclist who is traveling at 6 miles per hour. How much time will pass before the second cyclist catches up with the first from the time the second cyclist started biking?

A. 2 hours
B. 4 ½ hours
C. 5 ¾ hours
D. 6 hours
E. 7 ½ hours

uybert

The correct answer is E. 7 ½ hours.

davy yeung

no it is not!!

10x = 6x +18

x = 4.5

xo

i agree with davy yeung

hungryfes

Hi folks!
Can you please clarify if there were any probability or geometry questions on the numerical test? Or there were only simple math\equation problems?

uybert

Thanks for that. You are absolutely right. Apologies, I did not read the question properly.

The correct answer is 4.5

davy yeung

XO are the question like that in the maths exam?

and GMAT reasoning you mean things like this?

http://www.testprepreview.com/modules/readingtest2.htm?

xo

not exactly.
dont worry, you dont need to prepare for it, seriously

davy yeung

got till sunday to stress about it ... haha....or take a nap and get it over and done with!! haha thanks xo

mark1010

Xo is the numerical test like the once on the SHL site? http://www.shldirect.com/numerical.html

This is about percentages an cummulative interests etc as opposed to what was mentioned in this forum as geometry and probability based. Can you please help. Thanks

rm

Hey XO, is the numerical anything like the SHL's or PSL's or isit more like one block question with 5 sub questions?

also, are the answers for the critical reasoning questions in the yes, no or cannot say format?

thanks!!

davy yeung

Pencil and paper. Calculator allowed.

The numeracy test wasn't business related. They are more like logic problems- if so and so can run 2.5 times faster than blah, how long will it take so and so to lap blah? How many tiles will it take to tile a floor... etc

Reasoning test questions, you are given a passage of a couple of lines, and asked whether you can infer certain answers, or which argument support statements.

Both tests are 20 minutes, 30 question and negatively marked. There are some easy questions and some hard ones. Don't guess the questions you aren't sure of. Don't make the mistake of wasting your time on harder questions. If how you work out the answer isn't immediately apparent, move on. You can always go back (but you prob won't have time).

I don't think hardly anyone at all could answer all the questions- often I can complete these types of things, but this one I managed to answer around 18 q's on each paper, by just doing the easiest questions, and then going back to a couple of the slighlty harder ones.
(and I got through to interview)

something I picked up from vault ... good luck everyone

hungryfes

Hi davy and thanks for the detailed answer!

Can you please clarify, if there were ONLY simple math problems on numerical test like you described? or there were also probability and geometry questions like it was mentioned earlier in this forum?

Congrats on getting through to interview!

davy yeung

thats not me... just a message I pick up on the vault :P

davy yeung

and don't worry about geometry anyway... just look them up and they will come to you if they do come up

hungryfes

Oops) I wouldn't pass critical reasoning with such weak attention to details))
Then the question about probability and geometry problems is still to be answered.

davy yeung

you taking the online test soon? I am just practicing the maths one on any GMAT example as i can find! my maths teacher told me that the more you practice the better you get!!

aMaverick

Anyone know if you can take the online critical numerical test separately or do you have to do them one after the other?

mark1010

davy yeung did you find any similar examples like xo described. I remember doing one a while ago but can not find it anymore. Any good websites for the logical type of tests xo described?

kokinwor

Just finised the test this afternoon. The numerical is more like some logical problems and you should find the smart ways to get through. People who had maths contest training should be OK with it. But do not dream to finish all of them. Make sure the finished are correct. Wrong answers will get negative credit. The critical reasoning is like the GMAT verbal but there is less reading volume. Anyway, you can not finish all questions within 20min. I did 24 numerical and 17 critical reasoning.

jo3ll3

Hi Kokinwor, do you recommend that I memorize any formulas or concepts before the test? Congratulations on finishing it , at least you can feel relieved!

davy yeung

DEAR EVERYONE,

I want to congratulate you all for being so nice in sharing knowledge and feedback. We are competing for the same job yet you guys and girls are still willing to share! I hope you all do well and hope to see you at the group interview (given that I make it through)!!

Davy

P>S... so any one want to tell me any sample question you did today?? :P

kokinwor

There is no need to memorize any formulas or concepts. Just relax.

ike

Hi all,
Could anyone please let me know how long you had to wait to hear one way or the other following your ONLINE assessments at OW?

Cheers

sjoh2538

i'm not sure about the online tests but i sat mine in person on Friday and the lady said that we'd hear by latest this thursday.

Nellz

Oh wow - so they could let you know the day before if you have an interview or not? That's mildly terrifying.

in_it_2_win_it

Geez, Thursday at the latest! Thats abit harsh, possibly, an evening to prepare for AC!

These tests sound difficult! Another application gone...

Plus, whose going to tomorow's test at 1pm?
