Has anyone been to an assessment day for Logica's graduate programme? I would highly appreciate anyones experience on this. Furthermore, if someone has one comming up next month (PTS practice), I would like to hear from you so we can network before the event.

Staycool_khan

Hi JohnyD,

Actually today I got an email from logica about verbal, abstract and numerical Test. so please guide me asap.

thanks

sincerely,

Staycool_khan

jobless123

I took the online tests last year October to be precise and was told i passed but I still haven't been invited for telephone interview. How long did it take before you guys were invited?

Staycool_khan

I Think they got vacancise now and its the time to move on. so I submit my test today for verbal and abstract and 2rw gona do my numerical. so guys tell me how long it gona take to know that you passessd your online assessments test.
Thanks

JohnyD

I did the tests last year, nothing unusual just the standard numerical and verbal reasoning that you can practice on many sites,
assessmentday.co.uk

I had my telephone interview about 4 months after the test, you need to know what the company does, competitors, what you will do in your role and be able to answer the competency questions on their key competencies (these can be found on their graduate website). Test outcome comes within 7 days.

Overall I am VERY happy with the recruitment process so far, all the HR staff are very professional, polite and friendly, they also seem to have a good deal of technical understanding, so you are able to engage them with some concise and relevant technical achievements during the tel interview.

Furthermore I really appreciate the personal contact they provide, once you successfully complete the tests they contact you directly rather than from some anonymous corporate auto-mailer. You are then able to interact and consult them freely, replies are very quick.

Just over 3 weeks until my assessment center now, so still looking for anyone with experience or fellow candidates who will be attending.

Staycool_khan

I complete my all three online test today and submit. now see what gona be the outcome. i m bit worry about my numerical test was bit tough for me...so do u know how day gona be assess my test...

JohnyD

Usually at this stage, they are looking for you to be above the 30th percentile, so if you did better than 30% of others who took the test, you are likely to pass. Good luck.

Staycool_khan

You mean by 30% in each test or overall average of three verbal, abstract and numerical. because i am not much confident about the numerical one. I did my best but wast some more time on one particualr question. so nearly manage 13 question.

JohnyD

I think you need to be better than the standard percentile on all 3 tests separately.

Staycool_khan

hi,
When i m gona hear about my initial online tests results. I completed these test on the 26Feb and 27Feb respectivily. Thanks

liamsongone

staycool_khan did u get the result of your tests?

liamsongone

Anybody going to the Assessment Centre this week?

ppp211185

Please can someone let me know how were the logica online tests..difficulty level etc. Is it shl type? Also, how many questions are asked for abstract, numerical and verbal reasoning and the time alloted for each section?

Also, last week I answered pwc online test and failed to clear it...so please can someone let me know whether logica is more difficult or easier than pwc and do i need more practice before taking the test??

abhiab54

HI JohnyD,

Have you gone through assessment day? How was the assessment? Did they declare result on the same day? Anyone appearing for assessment day in this month?

regards,
abhi

dek278

I did the tests 25th of April and they said I passed. The tests are not that difficult. At least not as difficult as KPMGs' and the likes...
You will be given 20 minutes each for the numerical and abstract and can't really remember the verbal but it was a little over 20 minutes for more than 20 questions.
You will not be able to see how many questions you have attempted. However, you have a stop clock that ticks away.
All the best!!!
They said they will get back to me on 30th April. Please I'd like to know how many days from that day, will telephone interview be?
And will appreciate more tips on what is being asked during the Telephone interview.
Thanks

ppp211185

hi dek278..Thank for the reply.. even i cleared d tests and they said they will get2 me b4 31st May.. Did you do the telephonic interview? do let me know how it was...thanks..

dek278

Thats good news. I have not done the telephone interview.

ansuman777

hello everybody,

I have cleared the Logica online test. last friday one of the HR manager called me up and I will be having my Telephonic interview on Tuesday, 18th May. I am a bit nervous abt it as it will be my 1st ever telephonic interview.
all the possible Q i have prepared but i have 1 doubt. Who are the main competitors of Logica ? If anyone has appeared for Tel interview, pls let me know about this and any other possible Q.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers !!!

LL2010

Well pretty much everyone involved in IT services

Capgemini do Consulting, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)
IBM do the same and are global
Atos Origin also do System intergration
Capita BPO

Other things you should consider, what are the current trends in IT? Well most organistions are trying to be energy efficient, aka Green.

How much revenue do logica generate yearly?

Which business area do you want to develop in?

ansuman777

@ above,

thnks a lot for the info.. it would really help me.. i will be having my interview in couple of hours from now. What about your position?

Did u appear for the same?

LL2010

I went all the way to assessment centre but wasnt offered a position but a week later, i received a better offer anyway!!

ansuman777

@ above

I just appered for Telephonic Interview. It was good, after how many days, can i expect the responce from them.

anyways, congrats for getting a job !!

ppp211185

ansuman777

Please can you let me know for what role you had applied in Logica and what type of questions were asked? I had applied for position available in Graduate for "Technical Services or Outsourcing Services businesses"..So will they ask technical questions? Also, after passing the online test after how long did you get an interview call?..I have still not got an telephonic interview call :( they said they will get back to me before 31st May but haven't heard from them still..

LL2010

Ok Ill try to write what i can remember and try to give advice that can calm the nerves!

The tests are number series and verbal reasoning!

Group exercise: We had to select users to work on a project, each user had unique traits e.g costs £3000 to hire, lives in midlands, Has 3 years experience in Programming. You are given a set of project requirements and budget, so ideally the people you choose should have the required experience and come under budget! The exercise is hard to complete if people argue because time ticks away and you have about 2mins to make decisions! Anyway i never worry too much about group exercises as long as you make a positive contribution, argue with facts and communicate well, you'll score good points!

Main interview: You know when people ask where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Well think again, the key is to understand what logica do, understand how logica can help you develop the skills to get you to that goal! Also you need to demonstrate knowledge what logica's values are and somehow apply them to your answer! Most important tip: Commercial Awareness, make sure you study projects which match your career interests, like a consulting project if you're interested in consulting!

Well i cant remember much but feel free to pm or ask questions here!!

All graduates apply to Project and Technical Services and the variety of roles is overwhelming, which is why its important to know where you would want to start!!

Check this out and find your place in IT lol

Ok, im done now!

yazta

hi fcuk19,
i have an ac tomorrow, but im worried about the business case written excercise... is it technical, in that you need to have an understanding of business terminology etc?
and what is number series test? on the logica site it says there will be a numerical reasoning test and a syntax checking test.
thanks

LL2010

Ah syntax checking is looking for errors. Erm its hard to describe but on one side u have a set of rules and on the other you have sentences which have errors, so basically cross reference, my suggestion, memorise the rules!

Business Technology, just have a thorough understanding of what logica do and how you want to help them solve client problems!!

Mu_Pha

Hello everyone.
Fcuk19; thxs a lot for all your help so far.
I have my assessment centre next tuesday, but there's 2 things bothering me:
1. Business Awareness: does that mean, I should focus my answers more on Logica or more on business in general?
2. You know how you pick for the 2 areas you wish to work for in your application form? well mine was financial sectors and defence. Does that mean that in the interview, I would get asked about financial terminology or defence stuff? (Since on the graduate website it says that the interview will be "with someone from the business you're being considered for")
Thxs in advance any help and advice.

dek278

Hello Mu_Pha. I would like to ask you what were the name of the logica competitors you gave during your telephone interview. I have a telephone interview this morning with them. Also if there are any other information you think I should know. And yes! for the global trend in IT, what was your response as well as. Thanks for your prompt response.

ansuman777

major compeititors are, IBM global business, Accenture, Atos Origin, Capgemini etc..

current trend in IT- "Go Green"--> reducing of CO2 emission.

dek278

Thanks. I just finished the telephone interview. I want to believe it went very well. Thanks again.

Mu_Pha

Sorry for late reply.
think it wont matters now since you re done.
I wasnt asked for any IT trend for my telephone interview but for the competitors i used the same ones posted by fcuk.
I hope you got through to the AC.
Ansuman: have you been to the AC yet?

ansuman777

they 1st sent me a mail telling that, I am through to the AC. this is the mail i got.

Dear Ansuman,

Further to your recent telephone interview with Logica, I am pleased to confirm that you have successfully passed this. I would now like to take this opportunity to invite you to attend an assessment centre with a view to taking up a position in our Graduate Practice, within our Programme and Technical Services business within the UK. The assessment centre will take place in Edinburgh on Tuesday 29th June, commencing at 9.00 a.m. and finishing around 3.30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

The assessment process will consist of an interview, written exercise, group exercise and two short psychometric tests. The project nature of Logica's work means that work can also take place on client sites so mobility is essential, you should be prepared to work away from your base office for weeks at a time if required. The graduate starting salary is currently set at [#RequisitionCus:SalaryMax#]. Start dates are available from July onwards.

I would be grateful if you could let me know whether or not you would like to attend so I can send further details and directions or offer the place to another candidate. We will reimburse all reasonable travelling expenses. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

then later in the day, again they mailed me like this.

Hello Ansuman,

Please disregard the email that was sent to you earlier, it was sent to you in error.

I would like to thank you for taking part in the recent telephone interview. However, after careful consideration, I regret to inform you that we will not be progressing your application to the next stage of our selection process. I am sorry to disappoint you and would like to take this opportunity to remind you that being invited to telephone interview was a reflection of a strong application form. Competition for places at Assessment Centre has been very fierce.

Thank you for the interest you have shown in our placement programme, and we wish you every success in your current activities and your continued search for a placement.

end result- my journey z over. i m dissapointed. I did quite well. everythng went fine for me.nywany I am hopeful for all of you.
All the best.
Cheers !!!

yazta

Ansuman, that is really bad of them!
anyway there really isn't anything to worry about in the ac. there is the number series test with no calculator and a basic syntax checking test. in the interview no one was asked a technical questions, apart from one person who was asked about OOP and some java code, but that was probably due to something he put in his application or said.

ppp211185

@dek278

Hi..did u get thru telephonic inteview? I have mine next week... please can you let me know was asked other than competency based questions?

Also, would appreciate help from everyone and what possible questions can I look forward to..

Thank You all..

anonnymousman

I have been to the logica assessment center. It was a pretty good experience..I would recommend you go there for that rather than anything else.

It consists of...

An introduction, you have to introduce yourself to a group of 6 or 7 people. Then they show you and presentation about logica.

The test with us was observational, you had a pad and pen..and you were given a tour of the support/service desk. There you were told facts and stuff, you must write that stuff down. My mistake was I didn't write enough, I'm not sure how important this part of the procedure is.

You then must answer questions about logica and the service desk, this is where you refer to your notes.

It seemed more about taking un-necessary notes rather than finding the best person for the job.

You then get a break, and are called back for a group task. It was like a thing where you have to decide on who to hire depending on their salary, experience and location. Just make sure you speak up a little, criticise decisions and compliment others on their ideas. You can do much wrong.

Lastly an individual interview, depending on who you get this can be competency or just a general chat. Or a bit of both, this part probably is quite important so be sure to do your best...even if your not good under circumstances.

This was my experience, may be different for others..but I hope this helps another person who goes through the assessment center...the assessment center was more like a long winded interview though. It lasts about 3-4 hours too so be aware.

Thanks.

crawdevil

Anybody got the assessment centre next week?

Has everyone had the same experiance as anonnymousman?

Thanks :)

ppp211185

Hi,

Thank you evry1 for the useful information..

Please can sum1 let me know what exactly is written exercise?... It says that a business case is given and we have to draw conclusion and make recommendation but do we need to write down this and hand it over or in the interview tell the recommendation ?

Thanks...

alesyd

Does anyone know if there have ever been non-UK candidates? Do you know if it's particularly difficult for a foreigner and non-mother-tongue to overcome the assessment? Has anyone ever seen this situation?
thanks!

bizzle_50

Hi Guys, just to offer help and advice to anyone applying to Logica:

I had my telephone interview, was pretty straightforward as they all are regardless of the company your applying to. Just make sure you know the basics (what they do, competition, clients, services, etc) most can be found through there internet page. Then u have the competency questions, usually about how u work within a team, something u did well in a job/uni, difficult person u have dealt with etc. Lasted about 40mins, the guy who did mine was sound, and i got through to an Assessment Centre.

The Assessment Centre was at their office in Reading, from 9am to 4pm. Their was about 20 of us on the day (one of the biggest ive been to) and u have to do the tests again. They are very much like the online ones, but don't stress too much, as long as you know your basics and practice them u will be fine. Thre is two assessments;

1) group activity regarding the suitable project . In your group u have to work together to find a sutibale project for the organisation, but the key is not to just find the right prooject, but how u work as a team. I usually find it good to spend time reading what u have then everyone discussing it and developing a case for why their person is good.

2) group activity about planning an event. The assessors will provide u with info (u need to make note of it) such as budget, what they like, why there doing it, where they want it and so on. U will have a list of options available and again need to argue why u have selected a particular venue/location/theme etc. Be careful, they usually stop u inbetween too change some things i.e. they don't want to go to london, prefer scotland.

Tests lasted 45minutes from what i can remember, the group activities were about the same, and individual interview also 45min to hour. The interview is very much like the telephone interview (same concept of questions) just make sure you use various examples, speak clearly and know your application.

I passed the assessment centre and took the job. Usually takes a week to find out if your successful or not. Hope this helps!!!

P.S. non-UK residents have also been to the assessment centre as at mine their were three.

grad123

Hi,
How you doin,

I have applied for Logica Graduate PTS programme last year and after passing telephone interview, now I am doing my preparations for assessment which is due in couple of weeks time.

I would appreciate if you can share your experience of Logica assessment especially face to face interview. I am an experienced software developer, just bit curious to know is it going to be only competency based interview (like telephone interview) or technical as well. Also share your experience of written exercise / business case study part of assessment.

Thanks...

aimyx

@grad123. I attended the Assessment centre last year. The one on one interview was competency based. There were no technical questions. In the business case study, I was asked to organise tasks as a project supervisor based on a number of mails exchanged between the project stakeholders. Cheers and goodluck. :)

grad123

Hi Aimyx,
Thanks for your prompt reply.

Did you passed the assessment and offered the job?

I know they will access me from key competencies like client focus, business awareness, initiative and planning. Any more tips and suggesstions??

Thanks again....

iamA

Hi all,

I recently attended an assessment day with logica though which was not very different from what people have already described here.

We were 10 of us for the assessment organised at Leatherhead office recently. There was an icebreaker section upfront and we were asked to introduce ourselves to everyone present in the room including the assessors. From there on everybody was tasked differently from interviews, group exercise to individual exercise and tests.

My first task was 1:1 interview with one of Logica's experienced professional. My assessor was very good and we had an informal chat first regarding my cv and extracurricular's before getting on with typical competency based interview questions. The interview was 1 hour long in which the interviewer assessed me on -

1) client facing
2) planning
3) teamwork
4) challenging goal
5) deadlines
6) difficult member in the team
7) used persuasive skill
8) failure
9) conflicting / problem situation
10) going extra mile

There were 2 different questions based on the same competency skill, for example: planning skill - first question could be, "tell me a time when you had to plan to achieve your goal?" and the other could be, "tell me a time when your planning didn't go well?". I hope it makes it more clear.

After my 1:1 interview, I was grouped with 3 other candidates and we took our individual tests which were numerical and syntax error checking. The numerical test was time series based and the syntax error checking was more logical. But the syntax error checking test has got nothing to do with any of the programming languages or no prior knowledge of any programming language is required to complete that test.

After the individual tests, it was the time for written exercise, which was an in-tray exercise. There were 2 tasks for the exercise, part 1 where you have to read and respond to the information presented to you and part 2 asked us to write a report based on some information. To be honest I think I didn't perform too well in that exercise and I could not evaluate myself after the exercise because the in-tray exercises are not based on Q&A format. You have loads of information from emails to memos to team meeting's actions and minutes. You then have to write as part of your answer what would you do with that piece of information stating the priority as well.

Last but not at all the least, the group exercise. As discussed in the posts above, as a group we were asked to read, analyse, imbibe and present information and reach a unanimous conclusion based on the pre-requisites mentioned in the exercise.

Well that was all, I hope this information helps.

PS: Please don't solely rely on the information provided on these posts and / or portal, the information presented here are just what one individual has experienced on his / her assessment day and shouldn't be generalised. Refer these posts to get an idea only but trust me we all will have different experiences, in 1:1 interviews and for the group exercise as well, you may get very sound group where you can properly discuss and decide but you may also end with people who are difficult to deal or discuss with. So my suggestion would be to do your preparation first and as they say, "luck favors the prepared mind".

All the best!

mr. polo

Hi iamA,

Thanks for the lengthy elaboration of you experience. Did u get the job?? I would also like to know what a time series test is never heard or done one of those.

cheers

iamA

Hi Mr.Polo,

Well, I wanted to detail everything possibly i can remember and hence it is so lengthy. Yes i have been offered a role with Logica.

I would describe a time series test as logical one but which includes numbers, for example consider the series below

Q. 1, 3, 5, 7, ?

A. 9, B. 11, C. 7, D. 13

and so on and so forth. The main idea is to find the logic between the numbers and work out your way.

I hope it helps.

mr. polo

oh congrats iamA :D how long did it take to get the reply? and are u allowed calculator for the test? It would help if u can explain the syntax stuff too with an example like u did with the number series :D ur the best

Esso

Hello there;

Well done for the job offer sir.

Can you please elaborate further the written exercise. Also how was the he syntax error checking ?

I am very grateful for any help!

Thank you

iamA

I am sorry guys, I cannot help you any further. I think I have already given enough information. Just work hard until you succeed!

ansuman777

hello All,

Congrats to iamA, for your offer. All the best for the future.

Anyways, I applied on Jan 15th, gave the test on 20th and I had a telephone interview on 1st Feb, and i was invited for the AC on that call itself. So, mine will be on the 18th Feb, Friday.
