Hey, got offered my place today as I missed the call on Friday. The university interviewer had already told me I had the place 10 minutes into the interview though so that spoiled the suspense! Who else is going to Warwick? Everybody heard back yet?

I haven't heard yet, starting to get really worried!

I want to know nooow :( has anyone received any calls today?? and do u think if we had been rejected they would've let us know by now? This is so annoying!

I called them today to ask for an update and they said they are still in the decision making process. But considering people have been made offers, im not sure how much i believe that. She also said it could still take another 2 weeks but hinted it should be sooner. Overall they were very uninformative.

what? that's crazy! All I remember is the interviewer telling me that his last interview was June 16th, so I should hear end of June... I am slightly worried because I don't think my interview went THAT well... I just wish they'd say something now, at least a rejection :( aaahhh haha

Yeah but you went for UCL right? I heard their interview was really hard. Has anyone actually heard back about a place at UCL? Or have they only told the Warwick people?

Yeah I went for the UCL one, in torrington place. I know someone who went for UCL and heard on friday, though he had his interview quite a while before mine! Who knows how it works!

I think Vik was at UCL Wates house. I cant see what the hold up can be? NR were happy with us at the assesment. We were lead to believe the uni interviews were more of a formality and that was certainly reflected largely in mine. Theres no way a simple yes or no takes three weeks is there?

They told me a week prior to who SKR that theyd completed all their interviews and if you call the 0845 number youd be pushed to speak to anyone with a brain cell !

I phoned at 09:04 today and I was offered a place. My interview was at UCL Wates House on thee 28/05/2010, and my assessment centre was the first week although I was a late substitution in the second.week. I hope that helps anyone analysing things, athough I am sure they are just getting around to everyone.

Bear in mind though, and it says this on your renumeration cheques for travel expenses, that the Graduate Recrutiment team work for Network Rail, but are not PART of Network Rail. They are a third party outsourced company called GradWeb Inc. So they are totally in the dark, and get information ridiculously slowly.

called them back today, got an offer going to Warwick,

Congrats Paul and everyone who has been offered a place, I called them and was told I they had no updates for me, but said they are in the process of contacting a number of candidates and would get back to me soon. I just hope some good news comes through soon as the Warwick interviewers were very positive about taking me on so I am really amused about the whole delay. well I guess I just have to wait....all d best to all.

I called them at about 11, didnt even mention my name and they said they had no further information did you guys call 0845 6014228? Do you reckon there different offices that certain people are getting through to or anything like, meaning should I call again and hope someone more helpful answers?

hi graduated, I called that exact same number yesterday morning they asked for my surname and offered me a place so you definetly have got the right number. I was not transfered to anyone I literally spoke to one erson and she told me right there and then, from what i could hear it sounded like she was typing into a computer to check my position as it were. I hope this may help you a little i know how stressed you must be.

I just gave them a call, and she said (after asking for my name) that they had no updates for me at the moment :( that can't be good news!

maps I feel your pain I emailed them and after two days I got

'Please be advised that we will be in touch as soon as possible with an update regarding your final interview for our MSc Programme.

In the meantime, if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us'

What other queries could I possible have?, dont panick it may just be that theres something going on behind the scenes. Good luck either way pal ! '

Hello everyone I finally got a call from Network rail today at 3:45 pm offering me a place on the MSC PM scheme at Warwick University...I guess they are taking their time and the remaining offers will come in for everyone not contacted soon. Please for those who have been offered a place could you please let me know when your contracts are sent to you so I can follow mine up!!! .....looking forward to meeting you all at Warwick in October.....Cheers!!!!

Hey GroovyChick I was told I would recieve my contract today as well but didn't. Network Rail seem to be slow at absolutely everything so I wouldn't worry.

Hello Graduated I understand the way you feel right now cos I also felt that way until I was called on Thursday and offered the job......just continue calling them and reminding them that you are waiting that is what I did and continue to hope and I guess it will be OK........

I am currently studying the NR MSc PPM at Warwick - procrastinating on my thesis as I post!!!

I know how you all feel and remember the apprehension well :) but it's worth it in the end. Well done to all of you who have been accepted and to those who haven't, be patient - it'll come.

If anybody has any questions about Warwick, what living here is like or what the MSc is like, please feel free to ask. Also, if anyone is keen on coming and having a look round let me know - I'm sure I can spare a few minutes away from the dissi for a "brew".

- I'd like to live off campus. Are there any areas you wouldn't recommend living in Coventry? (I'm currently living overseas so wont get a chance to visit Warwick before I starting the course)

- What do you wish you'd known when you started?

- Are there any definitive books you recommend buying?

There is a mix of accomodation this year, I am living on campus (Heronbank Halls - if you wish to look online) but some of my mates are off campus. Depending on what you want out of next year, there are arguments for living on and off campus. Personally, the campus accomodation is really nice and very convenient for lectures and uni facilties (sports/library/SU etc) however, can be a little isolated from the surrounding areas unless you have a car. The private accom again mixed but what a few guys this year did was a house share and that's worked out pretty well for them.

Biffbox, At the start of the year I was probably most nervous about who i'd meet and if it's any reassurance the people selected last year are top notch. A real mix of backgrounds and ages but all good fun and relaxed.

On the books: I wouldn't worry yourself too much with reading just yet - there's plenty to do next year :) You get reading lists at the start of each module in which books are rated for importance. For your PMA's you'll be using a mix of books and journals. The library is well stocked and has great e-links to material. If you really want one book then the only book i'd recommend is 'how to succeed in your masters dissertation' John Biggam - it was used by a number of last years cohert and has been used again this year.

Hey JebG, Was just wondering if you have all been given an idea of where you are going to be working once you finish. Also is it the same package as graduates who did not do the Msc as in 24k a year and 3k welcome bonus. PJ

For those wondering about contracts I received the following today:

"Further to our recent phone call about your offer on to our MSc Scheme, we would like to inform you that candidate contracts are currently being processed and you can expect to receive them in the post by Friday 16th July."

I received same yesterday too!!!!

Hey everyone, So NR called me today saying i didnt get the UCL postion, but offered me a place at Warwick instead. So for those still waiting, theres still hope! She said i should receive my contract within a week. So glad all the anxiety is over, really looking forward to starting the course and meeting you all!

I checked my mail box this morning and still no sign of the contract...Is everyone else in the same boat? I have decided to go into halls at UCL, who else is heading there? Any idea when you are heading to London? I intend to be there towards the 19th or so. In any case I'm looking forward to getting started now, it's been such a long process.

Yes, I'm still waiting for my contract so it's good to know I'm not the only one.

At least it keeps the tension building. I'm sure the idea is that by the time you start you feel as though you've won the World Cup!

I'm still awaiting my contract too. You would have thought that they'd have this stage well-prepared with all the delays, but nothing's ever simple with NR!!!

I'm choosing to stay in Halls with UCL, and i'll head over to London whenever the bursary kicks in and I can get things organised! I'd love to meet up with everyone on the course and touch face before lectures start, so hopefully i'll see you there soon Keiran and anyone else who is going to UCL :)

Groovy Chick, nice one on at least getting some sort of response from NR even if it's not all that helpful... he he.

When I spoke to the interviewer at UCL, he said that the course started n the 27th. I think it begins with a sort of induction/ welcome to the course and UCL if you like. I think that info about the course will come with the contract or at least won't be long after.

I am keen to get there before this however at least to get to know Seven Sisters and scout out the surroundings... pubs etc!

I'll keep you all posted on my contract situation. Let's all hope we all get them soon and we can put an end to all this waiting.

UPDATE:

Just recieved a UCL Graduate Application Pack which I have to submit to the UCL Faculty Officer. Apparently we have to get 2 academic referees to complete reference forms and send it with a degree transcript. I won't be able to do any of that though until late August when my refereees come back from holiday and I get some time off...

Has anyone else been sent this, and in similar difficulties?
