Urgent Help Needed

Hi,
has anyone recently completed a BP online reasoning test? Does it consist of numerical, verbal and diagrammatical sections? What kind of questions to expect (esp. in the verbal reasoning section)?
Thanks ahead!

omar86

I have just submitted my BP application form but still need to take the test. I know this is of no use to you, but seeing as you posted this query a while back, I was just wondering if you have taken the test yet and if you had any advice.

johanna

I will finally take the test in February, so I don't really have info to share now...but I will let you know how it was as soon as I can...hope it helps...

omar86

ok, well I might take the test either tonight or tomorrow, so I will post up how it was. By the way, the deadline for the form is 30th of Jan and I think the test is part of the application form, so I would not delay it till February.

johanna

thanks ahead! which progamme are you applying for? i am in for the eurograd prg and it is freezed till february as far as i know...

johanna

frozen:)
it will only reopen around mid feb...so i have some time for preparation...

omar86

The test is really really easy... the test has three parts

1: Verbal Analysis
2: Numerical Analysis
3: Diagrammatic Analysis

The numerical is very easy. The verbal is easy too, and I would suggest having pen and paper for the third, but it is still not too difficult.
They also give you a link to a pdf that gives the exact form of the test.

Good luck!

johanna

Thanxxxxx a lot for sharing!! Good luck for you too!!

I have applied for an engineering role at BP.
I have to attend the 1st round of interviews at BP. I know the guidelines are there on the website but has anyone been through this yet? It consist of a technical and a competency based interview. Please let me have some idea on what to expect!

Thanks.

radualex

Do they give you this link before or after the test? do you still have it ? thanks..

Its verbal, numerical then diagrams. The diagrams were, in my experience, by far the hardest. Each section is timed.

hai guys,

any body interested in procurement and supply chain management or trading of BP graduate scheme from India .

pratikprakash9

does anyone know how many questions we need to get approximately to pass? My test wasnt that great :(

LovelyJ

I am not sure how many questions we need to pass.
I just completed mine, and I only got links to numerical and verbal. I did not get any questions for diagrammatic representation. Please did any one else have same problem?

pratikprakash9

hey lovelyj, I didnt get invited for the diagrammatic as well.. I only got an invitation for the numerical and verbal...which position did you apply for?

Osama-Libya

Hello Guys , well i had the same issue it seems that the test this year will be only two parts , because in the last years it was three , Do u know what is the minimum score required to go the second stage , i guess i did not do so good in the verbal part.....
how did u do guys and what profession u are applying for ?

LovelyJ

Hello Osama-Libya and pratikprakash9. I applied for the graduate position in petroleum and reservoir engineering. The verbal was more difficult than the numerical. I called to find out if it was meant to be in 2 parts as the instruction said otherwise, the person i spoke to said it was (just verbal and numerical). Keeping my fingers crossed.

Osama-Libya

Hello Lovelyj , i am applying to Reservoir engineering also , but i am not sure if i will be invited for interview since i am not from Uk nor EU , i feel that my nationality will cause problem in screening , in fact i had a Master in Res Eng from IFP school in France and two of my friends started working now with BP.

good luck for all

pratikprakash9

Hey both of you, my verbal reasoning was not too good either. the numerical was alright. Fingers crossed. And I am applying for the commercial role (Finance). Let me know when you here from them. Thanks. :)

I got an invite for the online tests, was just wondering are they shl or some bespoke type thing that bp only have?

pratikprakash9

It's some weird testing company..definitely not psl or Shl..

keliz12

Did any one complete them last year for the internship? Are they the same format this year? (Aside from not having the diagramatic part) I'm now applying for gratuate mechanical engineer

Hey lord_kelwin,

Have you found out whether you have passed the ability tests yet? I did mine on Wednesday, and i haven't heard either way. I think i did pretty well, but i just want to know whether i've passed or failed and not be kept in limbo!

lord_kelwin

Hi,

Nope. It's been a week since I did mine. Haven't heard from them yet.

lord_kelwin

Hi guys,

The company that does aptitude tests for BP is called Saville Consulting. Here is the link to the preparation guide for the tests they do:

http://www.savilleconsulting.com/products/aptitude_preparationguides.aspx

There you can find sample tests of all kinds. BP does verbal reasoning, numerical reasoning and diagrammatic reasoning. This year the diagrammatic reasoning test seems to be absent, at least it was the case for me, but it may not be the case for you. Note that the actual tests are a bit harder than those on the website of Saville Consulting. The time pressure is enormous so my advice is: practice as much as you can before you take the actual BP test. Oh, and don't bother with commercial websites, there is plenty of torrents with sample tests.

JBeresford1

Hey guys, I did my online test two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything. Would they definitely get back either way or do you think it means unsuccessful?

DZ

Hi guys,
I complited my test in the end of last week. I wish I had find this site earlier. I am not setisfied with my efficiency. :( but fingers crossed.
What about you guys?

pratikprakash9

my test was hopeless as well...i guess because every1 is finding it difficult they might allow for more errors...lets c...

Osama-Libya

i guess it did not work with me , they will not progress my application but why ? nobody says why ?

good luck for the rest

DZ

Didn't pass the test or something else or u know nothing about the reasons? They sent a mail, or you called them?

keliz12

it took me 3 weeks to hear back from them after my test. I passed and I have the interview on the 10th November in Aberdeen. Any one else going to be there?

TickerTape

Would anyone know how soon one is notified should he/she not do well enough in the tests?

Congrats Kimhale! Were you notified via email or telephone?

lord_kelwin

Hi guys,

I took the test on 14/10 and heard from them on 27/10. I passed. Waiting for an interview on 16/11. I was notified by e-mail.

keliz12

i was notified by e-mail! i guess they're just processing them as soon as they can. it took me a good 3 weeks

MrPurple

@lord_kelwin & Kimhale - did you guys get those interviews for engineering or commercial roles? also are they graduate or internship positions?

because mine is for internship did my test 4 weeks now n no news.

many thanks

TickerTape

Where are you applying for MrPurple? Perhaps you might want to give them a call. A month does seem like a long time. It seems that everyone should receive a reply within 2/3 weeks successful or not.

I got in touch with Lord_Kelwin and his was for the petrophysicist position in the UK.

lord_kelwin

Hi Mr Purple

I applied for a graduate role as a petrophysicist. If I was you I would definitely give them a call, especially that the BP website says it should take no longer than two weeks to know the results.

BelloOlanrewaju

Thanks to u guys 4 ur tips................ Remain blessed

lolotre

It took them one month to get back to me after I took the test and they told me that "after careful consideration" they believed I would be more suited for another role and are hence inviting me for an interview for that role. I was seriously about to call them!

solomonlazio

Hello guys,

I had finally heard from them today. My interview is scheduled next week. Can someone plz help with the kind of questions BP ask for the technical interview?
I applied for the Engineering graduate programme.

Thanks.

keliz12

Solomonlazio which engineering role are you going to the interview for? I will be at the mech eng one on the 10th. I'm assuming no one can help with the technical interview questions because these are the first round of interviews if you exclude those which were interns this summer

solomonlazio

Hi Kim,

Mine is Control Systems on the 7th, was only asking probably some peeps that must done it in the past. I guess it should be something similar.
Wish u goodluck.

MrPurple

Hi guys appreciate the replies. mine was for Wells - drilling & completions internship. Gave them a ring last week they said they still haven't processed my application & test results and will get back to me asap so I'll wait and see.

Come to think of it you guys all seem like you're grads so maybe they'll do grads first and then interns. if any interns(Eng or IST) got interviews give me a shout.

Anyway thanks

browncargos

Hi Guys, Anyone got interview for the Finance programme?
I have been invited for an interview, but I cannot find interview slots in their system before January 2012!!
Anyone in the same position?

lolotre

I managed to get an interview for IS&T for 6th december, I wonder when other candidates are interviewing as this seems pretty late
