Moore Stephens?!

i too am surprised by the lack of mention of this firm on this website, given its size and everything!

i've applied for tax in London and am waiting for a response to my application. Anyone else here applied for a grad scheme at Moore Stephens and would like to share their thoughts on the recruitment process?

I have recently submitted my application too but for audit. I found it quite refreshing not to have to answer endless competency based questions and found really interesting to have a question like..

If you were given the capital to start a business, what would the business be and how would you see off the competition?

I come from a biology degree so was unsure of my answer and would be really interested in how other people tackled the question!

Id start a record company, coz Im trying to marry my passion (music) with my current interests (business and finance) and talent (maths). Its the industry ive been aiming for my whole life, i just never knew what I wanted to do in it. Its the whole reason I want to be an accountant. Its also why I would choose tenon over the big 4 - they worked on the dark knight and prince caspian. Do you think theyd like me if I told them I wasnt using accountancy to get into banking?

Anyone know when they start letting applicants know?

I had a first round interview in Bath last week. Quite relaxed, mostly questions about my uni, why I wanted to join the firm etc., not much in terms of competency questions.

Did anyone else get given a maths test when they went for interview? I wasn't expecting one, but they sat me down in front of a laptop with a numeracy test from www.efinancialcareers.co.uk and left me to it. Luckily I'd done that test before, so doing it again was a piece of piss.

No response from my interview as yet.

Judging by their website, I thought Moore Stephens hold a single assessment day and that's it? (i.e. no 1st/ 2nd rd interviews)

Yeah, I saw that on the website too, but there was no mention of an assessment day during my interview. I suppose some of the regional offices do things differently. I've found quite a few firms only use assessment days for their larger offices, especially London, whereas the smaller offices appear to require less exhaustive recruitment procedures, presumably because they have fewer applicants and less competition for vacancies.

Still no word from MS, doesn't bode well... but through to PKF second round, get in there!

Does anyone know what 'London - Private Clients' means listed under the Preferences section of the application form? I'm trying to apply for Audit but it doesn't seem to be listed so I'm thinking that perhaps london-private clients is audit? Anyone got any ideas?

i applied to Moore Stephens just before Christmas, for audit in London and have heard nothing bar a reciept of my application... pretty poor show

I have also applied to Moore Stephens. I submitted my application around Christmas time and have heard nothing from them since except for a receipt of my application. They are incredibly slow, either very disorganised or more worried about other aspects of their firm. There is also very little information anywhere about their graduate schemes.

Thanks for your pm Rocketfire, I was told by someone else that London Private Clients is Tax? But you say it's Audit? Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Hey guys, has anyone been to the assessment day/interview for 2010? If yes how was it? was it the same case study as mentioned on the other wikijob thread? any tests to complete?
how was the interview and the informal breakfast?
