McDonald's Trainee Accountant Graduate Scheme
Hopefully somebody will be able to help with this one!
Anyone had any experience of applying to this scheme? I've passed the tests and been asked to attend an assessment day. The thing is I cant find any info about the scheme or anything else on-line. I am going to e-mail and ask more about the scheme but I thought Id ask on here too. Would be even better if anyone has applied and would be able to give a quick run through of the assessment day.
I wonder if you could help me out with some information? I have come across this graduate scheme that McDonald's do with CIMA for new accountants, and I am interested to know if they still do it?
Did you manage to get in and do you currently work at McDonald's head office? If so, could you give me contact details for the head of Finance or the head of HR, or any other contacts in the Finance department so that I am able to find out more information?
Also, do you know roughly what size the finance team is there at the head office?
Thanks for that!
Just thought Id give you a bit of info. I went to the assessment day and final interview last year. I was offered the job but didn't end up working for McDonald's.
The assessment day is a pretty standard one, similar to many others that you may have attended.
You will start of in the canteen, which is designed like a McDonald's restaurant, when everyone has arrived you will then go for a presentation about the finance function and the company etc. This was delivered by a senior member of the accounting department when I was there. It might be an idea to take notes as you can use this later in the interview.
After this you will split into groups of 4-6, where we had to discuss as a group a case study of a failing company and make recommendations to better the company and create a presentation relating to this. I think we had an hour to do this. After which you will have to present this as a group, everyone has to speak and after you have made your recommendations you will be asked questions by the panel. They want people who can speak up and provide an opinion so there is tip number two!
After this you will have lunch in the canteen/restaurant. While they make their choices about who will stay and go for the second part of the day.
The second part of the day will consist of a competency based interview and writing up a report about the recommendations you made earlier. I was interviewed by two people a manger in the department and a trainee.
I think they only hire 1/2 people, I was told 6-700 people applied. So you have done well to get this far.
I really don't know how the application process is at the moment and whether much has changed, but this was my experience in April 2009.
The office in London is really nice the actual one in Sutton Coldfield is much different!
Ill try answer any more questions, but I am finding it quit hard to remember as it was such a while ago!
Yes hopefully I will be arriving at that time. I'm getting the tube so wish me luck with that! I have no idea about numbers, hopefully not too many! Well if we are asked, we can only tell them what we know. Gives us the opportunities to ask more questions if we get through to the interview stage!
Larna, I will be getting a lift to the offices that morning and hoping to arrive around 9.45, it starts at 10 yeah? What about you? I hope I can find the place ok!! Any idea how many people will be there tomorrow or the number of graduate places they actually have? I agree, I think it will be competency based too, but Im worried that I dont actually have details about the scheme itself!!
Yeah all I've got is a little bit about the scheme, i.e duration, where we will be based, the main areas of finance we'll be covering etc. Not sure that we can do much for the assessment day though, the group exercise/presentation could be on anything. Im pretty certain the interview is going to be mainly competency based so just gonna make sure I can talk a little bit about why I chose mcdonalds then go over my examples for problem solving/team work etc
Just the usual numerical and verbal reasoning tests. You'll find that most companies use the same company for their online testing so a lot of the questions are the same or similar...this doesnt make it easier though! Will post on here after the assesment to let you know what to expect!
Hi yes, I live in west London. Are you travelling to Kings cross? I'm not sure how to get to the office though. What time are you hoping to arrive?
