This site has been very useful in helping me secure a contract and I would like to offer help to anyone I can. If anyone has any questions about the Deloitte, Saffery Champness, Kingston Smith and SWAT interviews and assessment days then I would be happy to offer my recent experiences.

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your kind words and congratulations on your contract! If you would like to help others the best way to do this would be to create - "Application to Offer: Company Name" forum posts and then describe your experiences from making your application through to interview through to offer. This would undoubtedly help 100's of people and generate a great deal of discussion!

I am particularly interested to hear about SWAT too.

Well done once again :)

Hi Bob,

What you have applied for and where for Deloitte?

What were some of the questions that came up at the first interview and then at the partner interview?
Also what was Deloittes assessment day like?

Thanks!

Congrats on the offer! Where is it for? I really want to know a bit more about the Saffery Champness assessment day because I have one coming up. Particularly interested in knowing more about the case study presentation and group exercise.

Also, I had a first round interview with SWAT last week if anyone wants info on that.

Hi,
I've got a first round interview with SWAT UK on 2 weeks. I understand that there are 3 tests, and if succesful with the test you are given a competency based interview.

How did you prepare for the tests and what type of questions did they ask you in the interview?

Help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi, I also have an interview with SWAT UK and was wondering if anyone could provide some information on the 3 tests, and the competency interview.

Thanks

Hi everyone, I have been invited to an assessment day with SWAT UK next week and would appreciate any details of what the day consisted of...

Thanks in advance!

Anyone have any more useful tips on the test/interview day with SWAT UK?

Lotak

This was definitely the most difficult interview I've had so far, granted I've only had half a dozen to date.

The first stage is the maths, comprehension and letter tests. The maths test is pretty bog standard, there's bits of algebra, algebraic manipulation and nothing really more complex than GCSE.
The comprehension test is a two sided piece of text where they ask you 12 questions about it. Its not *that* difficult but its easy to get caught out with some of the questions.
The letter writing is just about writing a letter to someone about starting a career in accountancy. It needs to be formal and the layout has follow that.
The pass mark for the two tests are 80% (12/15 and 10/12 respectively) and the assessors decide whether or not your letter met the requirements of a formal letter and the quality of English was good enough.

The interview on the other hand....bloody hell. My interview experience was very different to what others had. It lasted almost an hour and a half and the interviewer spent almost half an hour discussing my A-levels. Then it moved on to discussing my degree, why I chose the degree, why I'm not considering a career in that field (it was science), why Bristol. Then about teamwork, why accounting, my strengths, weaknesses and then about the ACA qualification. He probed me so much, which was very different to my interview with HAT which simply consisted of a question followed by an answer then move on to the next question.

It was a REALLY tough interview but the interviewer is very friendly and tries to make life a bit easier for you.

Hope that helps.

I don't know whether this is the relevant thread to ask this question but here we go.

Has anyone had problems with Saffery Champness' on line test?

They said they'd emailed me the tests but I haven't received them. I asked the HR person to send them again, she did but still nothing. I've checked my junk and nothing there either.

I've logged in my account on their website and there is no link to take me to the tests. Has anyone had the same experience?

TerryJay

Yeah I had the same problem... apparently they had a technical problem but it should be fine now.... I ended up receiving 6 e-mails with the same tests....

Hi plintveld,

I see that you applied to Saffery Champness. Could you please tell me what the structure of your covering letter was?

Your help will be much appreciated.
Many Thanks

Hi Bob,

I saw you applied for ks! can you please let me know what sort of answers you gave for the online application form?? particularly for 'why ks'?

I'm also keen to know what sort of subjects people were presenting at the interview and what seemed to be generally considered a 'good' topic as slightly worried about that part of the process.

thanks in advance it's much appreciated :)

Hi Bob,

Was hoping you could shed some light on the telephone interview questions with kingston smith

kn11

In reply to your question; Why KS?

Think about why you want to work for a mid tier firm
As a general rule mention any awards it has won. Employment awards or awards specific to the service line you have chosen.
Most companies talk about culture on their web pages. Mention this culture.
most of the info you need for this question is normally on their graduate web page. Regurgitate it and make it specific to you. 200 words
